The Toolkit is a free resource. There are no premium versions. It will always be free.
You don’t need to know anything about technology to use this Toolkit. As you work through the site, you will:
- Explore digital careers - You’ll do hands-on-keyboard tasks to experience what the job involves. You’ll see information about the job outlook, career paths, skills & training so that you can decide which direction is best for you.
- Plan Your Pathway - You’ll discover what matters most to you in a career, how to navigate workforce training programs, and weigh your postsecondary options.
You could spend 15 minutes or a couple of hours. There are a lot of pages. You don’t have to do them all. Click around and decide what you want to work through. But once you start a page, stick with it because some activities involve learning how to use new software and researching the scope of different career paths. Some of this can be challenging. But we want you to get a realistic experience of what a tech job entails.
As an educator, you can use the site for classes on career exploration or if you are teaching subjects related to tech careers. As a counselor you can use pages in 1:1 sessions, or in conversations with small groups of students or families. You don’t need to know anything about tech careers. These are facilitator guides, lesson plan suggestions and additional resources to adapt for your students.
Fill out the contact form if you would like specific advice on using the site.
The learners you work with - high school students or young adults who have graduated from high school - can explore the career pages on their own or at your direction. You can use the resources about training programs and certifications to guide them. There is a section to introduce various postsecondary options.
